What is a math circle?

**Spring 2024 Registration is now open here!**

Math Circles are a form of educational enrichment that bring mathematicians into direct contact with pre-college students. We meet in an informal setting to discuss interesting problems or topics in mathematics. The goal is to get the students excited about interesting mathematics, not to accelerate them in school mathematics.

The Copper Country Math Circle is for 2nd – 5th-grade students from Keweenaw, Houghton, and Baraga Counties. Students will develop a positive attitude towards mathematics by engaging young children with interesting mathematical problems. Each meeting will vary depending on the lesson’s mathematical content and will be full hands-on activities, games, short problems, and guided discussions.

Program Date/Time

We will meet one Thursday evening per month. Overflow sessions will be scheduled if needed. Material is not cumulative so please feel free to sign up at any time.

Students can sign up here.
